All is Well
Right now, Starfish is napping. I was catching up on FB and e-mail and as needed, tending to laundry.
I also snuck in a bit of baking, making a batch of sugar cookies (from a pouch) and trying really hard not to eat the dough as I spooned little dollops of dough on to the cookie sheets.
I get one good long nap out of her a day now, the rest are 20-30 minute cat naps that are just enough time for things like meals, chores, and a shower. Not necessarily in that order. And the long nap varies in time of day from one day to the next. I know eventually we'll get something that resembles a predictable schedule, but until then, we just wing it.
She had her 4 month check-up with the Pediatrician yesterday. It was a big appointment, the longest lasting one yet. She weighed in at 13.5 lbs and was 23.5 inches long. Looking back at her 2 month stats, she's gained 2 lbs and grew a half an inch.
Impressive little one.
We discussed first time parent concerns with the doctor and she patiently and politely answered our questions and/or addressed our worries. She reassured us that we are doing great at being parents and that our Starfish is as healthy as they come. We also went over the topic of introducing baby food into her diet finally. She said that we could wait until she was 6 months old, but if we wanted to experiment now, there was no harm done. She gave us guidelines and good ideas on how to start and how to proceed once we do start. And hubby and I are anxious to see how it goes with our hungry little girl.
She already responds well to "open up" when we offer her fingertip tastes of our own meals here and there. Mostly sauces and such. We enjoy her reactions and she enjoys the inclusion of it. Since we eat our meals in front of her, we figure we should at least try to make her part of it. Now she will have her own food to eat while we take our own meal.
Well another load of laundry beckons from the cozy warm confines of the dryer. I'm sure Starfish will be up again soon, hungry as a beast. Must make the most of the time I have until then.
