And Butter Melts Down

Just when things were going well I had to go and have a bad day yesterday! I think that's par for the course for everyone these days, and yesterday seemed to be no exception for myself and others. Since I wasn't the only one having a bad day, I at took comfort in knowing I wasn't alone. For all of you who suffered in some fashion yesterday, it's over now. Breath easier today, like me. *ahhh* Now that's better. My problems yesterday were close to 100% my own fault, of course it took fresh rested and relaxed eyes to really see that this morning as I reflected upon the events that led to my meltdown yesterday. Had I done this instead of that or that instead of this, things would have went in a completely different direction. But alas, hindsight just means you can see that you were an ass too little too late. Right? Not that I WAS an ass, really but I could've done a few things differently and produced a more positive result. But then I'd not have something to b

Like Butter...

Kenny is running great... smooth, sweet... like butter. (knock on wood) I'm currently on my way to a delivery in Savannah, GA. Aside from strong winds and heavy rain along the way yesterday in Illinois and Kentucky, the drive from Minnesota where I picked up as been quite uneventful. Yesterday was a breeze, aside from the breezes and I made it a lot further than I'd anticipated, which is always good. Today, however, thanks to traffic tie-ups in the ATL I didn't get as far as I'd hoped I would. I could have kept going, but I wanted to be shut down before the sun went to sleep. So I landed for the night and settled in. I've still got another 3 hours left on the trip for tomorrow morning. Which is fine... I need to save some hours anyway. If I keep running 10-12 hour days I'll run out of hours before I know it. And I'd rather not do that since I still have another 12 days before I'm due for some time off. So I'll take it easy for a day or two.

Repaired

I'm sitting in Kenny right now hoping that what the mechanic told me this morning was truth and that we're really ready to roll without any further issues, at least related to my EGR valve and the subsequent bits and pieces affected by it's tantrum. When I arrived at the shop this morning to inquire as to the status of the truck I was told it was finished and waiting for me in the rear parking lot. I asked a few questions about who fixed it, what they did, etc. There was nearly $1,500 worth of repairs and/or replacements provided during the course of fixing the truck. One guy wondered how I'd made it over the road without breaking down completely for so long, thinking it must have been a miracle. Another said at least I could get outta this place finally! I agree... and as I type I'm receiving an outbound work assignment which will finally get me rolling again! Hooray....

Still waiting...

I have the word "patience" tattooed on the inside of my right wrist... right now it's the only patience I have. I'm trying. Really. I keep distracting myself with Facebook, blogging, reading blogs, reading a book, watching TV. But through it all... my impatience sits right beside me tapping me on the shoulder saying, "hey hey hey hey hey". It's annoying. I called the shop to see if by some miracle they got Kenny in earlier than expected. Not a chance. Why do they laugh at me when I call to check on this? I don't get it. I don't think it's very funny. What I find less funny is the fact that I shouldn't even be sitting here wasting away in my stew of impatience. I should be rolling mile after mile, picking up and delivering freight. The shop I was in two days before I got here should have fixed this problem like they were supposed to. But no... no. I just hope that I can get some damn good miles when I get back on the road. But hey... it co

Thank You!

A huge, enthusiastic THANK YOU to my home girl over at The Daily Rant for creating the masterpiece blog header that you now see above. I love it and it really makes my blog snap! It started out as a simple e-mail question about what type of program she used to create her own blog header and quickly turned into a back and forth e-mail fest which led to this final product. Salena I cannot thank you enough for the time you took to make this (and the other prototypes) for me and my silly little blog. Not to mention the fact that you helped me take my blog in a new direction with giving it an actual title. Maybe now that it's pretty to look at I'll visit my own blog more often.... maybe. ;o) Of course I'll be spending some of my time blogging over at The Other Side of Gi-Gi Roxx , another place that got all prettied up with the creative talents of my blogging comrade. The Other Side is a new place for me to blog about all things non-trucking. Check it out and lemme know what

Poo Poo Kenny....

Sorry about the last blog post, incomplete as it was. I was gonna deleted it until I received a comment on it and figured I'd keep it around after adding my own clever comment in response. Dumb iPhone. Anywho. So things have been frustrating since I came back outta the house after my last home time. Not having my dearest along with me this time means I have to actually take the time to clean my windows and mirrors at fuel stops, entertain myself while waiting around, and the like. It's much better with company than without, that's for sure. But honestly... I'm kinda glad he stayed home this time because my truck smells much better with only my farts to deal with! hahaha Since coming out of the house I have had a few annoying moments. I was sent from home to Rochester, PA with a load of scrap metals. Delivery was the real kicker on that load as when I arrived at the place I just followed the signs that led me to the scale yard for check in. It was only after ent

Come Ride With Me...

I've been absent as quite a few of you have noticed (and taken the time to point out, some in nicer ways than others). I could give about a dozen excuses on why I've not blogged in quite some time but it's really neither here nor there. I'm here now... and that's what counts! haha The biggest news that comes from the lapse in blog-world time has been that my sweetie finally joined me for an over-the-road adventure of his own. We spent the past three weeks bouncing around together having a blast. After getting the truck ready for the both of us, we hit the road to get out first load bound for Laredo, TX! This was super exciting for a first dispatch since even I had never had the pleasure of going to that part of Texas yet. We got loaded up and hit the road. Full steam ahead, at a comfortable cruising speed of 60 MPH, we worked our way south westerly through Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas and finally arrived in northern Texas only to receive orders to relay the lo
