Look what I can do!

OMG I am blogging! As I mentioned before I've not been in the mood lately for blogging, but today I'm compelled. Partly because of my current load situation, partly because I just want to. I'm sitting in Concordville, PA on a load that has not started my day off as I'd hoped. I was supposed to have been able to come here, drop my empty trailer, pick up a preloaded trailer that was supposed to be ready at 1am and then hit the road bound for the VA Beach area of VA. Not what is happening at all. When I arrived I learned that my load was not due to be ready until 10am today. I was advised to get back in my truck and wait to see what might happen. I was called back and told to dock at a door so that my empty trailer could be loaded with my freight. Right on, only I've been docked now for nearly an hour and they still haven't even started loading me. I had a great schedule planned out for today and this situation just throws a total bone in it. But oh well, that'

Not Dead Yet

I've not been much in a mood for blogging lately and I've not really had anything too interesting to blog about. I've made my way to the east coast and will be piddling around here until this weekend when I go home for a few days off. I'll be back eventually.... I promise.

Rollin' West

I did indeed get a load the other day, picked it up in York, PA and delivered it yesterday in Circleville, OH. After having to wait about 3 hours for my next work assignment while sitting at the Pilot in Circleville, I was finally rolling again towards my next load. I picked it up in Marion, OH and am on my way to Kansas City, MO with it. I will deliver it tomorrow. It's set for a 13:00 delivery, but I am only about an hour away from there and will be calling in first thing in the morning to see if we can reschedule for an earlier time. I prefer not to waste half of the day sitting around waiting for a stinkin' appointment in the afternoon. I hope I can get it rescheduled. But if not, I'll deal. The trip so far has been pretty well uneventful. I'm not complaining. After the alternator issue I'm just fine with OUT a little excitement in my life for a while. Unfortunately, though, no excitement leads to very boring blogs. So there.

Trucky Repairs

So I had gotten a great load out of Maine. Paper rolls bound for western Kentucky... 1150 miles which would have been a great way to start off the week. But alas, Trucky wasn't up for it. I had made it as far as Sterling, PA where I shut down for my break on Friday where I had a delicious dinner at Howes Truck Stop. A great night of sleep followed the great dinner and then Saturday was upon me with beautiful sunshine and chirping birds and all that jazz. After my morning routine to get me going, I went in the truck stop and bought myself a bottled water and a lottery scratch off. I won two bucks on the one dollar card, my day was looking good already! I did my pretrip, finding everything in top condition. I caught up my logbook and then was ready to roll. I made it less than three miles west of the truck stop when I started hearing an alarm going off inside the truck cab. I searched my dash gauges checking air pressure first, fuel second, temp and oil pressure... then I fou

Maine

I almost ( almost ) think the idea of a tender hot and juicy lobster tail for dinner sounds enticing. But, I still can't get past the shelling feature that is required to eat such a meal. I can only shuck corn before I eat it. Creatures of the sea, including but not limited to lobster, crabs and shrimp are not items I will eat if I have to dissect them to do so. It's just too gross. So instead I'll probably just eat some of the fresh fruit and veggies I bought at the market in Carlisle while I was there the other morning. It made a lovely dinner last night... strawberries, honeydew and cantaloupe, carrot chips and celery. It was a tasty treat. Dessert was not something most people consider dessert but it was a tasty way to end my meal... reduced fat Triscuit's with Cheddar easy cheese. I was satisfied, and that's all that matters. My time back out on the road has been pretty uneventful so far. I delivered my first load in Winchester VA and then picked up a

On the Road Again

Well my vacation is over and I'm back on the road. I feel fresh and recharged and ready to go! I had a great two weeks and am sooo glad that I was able to take so much time off. It was certainly needed. I had a blast on the trip to North Carolina. Six days of camping in the mountains, relaxing in a cool mountain stream and spending time with people you enjoy being with really is the way to vacation! Throw in a bunch of really awesome motorcycles and awesome weather... it's amazing! Once back at the homestead, time off was a little busier as I had a lot of stuff to get done around the house and about town. While I was home, I also purchased a new personal vehicle.... trading in the little Chevy Colorado for my dream boat of a Nissan Titan V8 (oh yeah). I love it. yay! On Thursday of last week I called in to check the status of Trucky and was amazed to learn that he was untouched, still sitting in the terminal in Columbus where I left him. There had been no one in need of a loane
