Relaxed and Rollin'

Time off does a body good.

Now it's back to it. Marge had been sitting on a load all weekend while I was off playing and enjoying myself, but together we had to get it to where it was meant to be this morning. Bright and early. Well... foggy and early actually. But we made delivery on time and that's what matters.

After we got our box emptied out we headed back to the truck stop where we got a little cleaning and organizing done while we waited for a response from the powers that be as to whether or not we could pick up our next load earlier than appointed. After getting the go-ahead, we hit the road once again.

12 miles later we arrived at the shipping location and ended up having to do all sorts of fun stuff. First, I was required to change my clothes. It was hot, sticky with humidity so I had dressed for the weather that morning in a tank top and capri's. To do business on this shippers' property I had to have on long pants and a t-shirt at the minimum. After I'd parked, pulled the curtains, changed, opened the curtains and exited the cab of the truck I was greeted with a security badge held in the extended hand of my escort and educator.

He ushered me to the guard shack and sat me at a desk and started a training video for my viewing pleasure on the desktop computer. It was an 8 minute video required to be seen by every new patron to the facility. Once the video ended, I was handed a certification card and given instructions on how to get to the building I would be obtaining my load from.

I was then released to make my way through the maze of this place to the building for loading. It was fun. Or something. But I made it with little trouble thanks to all of the really helpful signs that pointed me in the right direction.

Docked and loaded in under 30 minutes is a rarity, and always appreciated. And that's what I got today. Once I was signed and sealed, it was time for me to depart so I could make delivery.

I don't know if I have ever really said it before but, well.... trucking is fun! Especially on days like today when the sun is shining and there are lovely white fluffy clouds in the sky! I took my time and made the most of my day enjoying the beauty that passed quickly by my windows as I headed west towards Indianapolis.

Tomorrow, I have to make my way further north and west and deliver at 11 am just to the south and west of Chicago. After that....who knows where the roads may lead. I'm kinda hoping for some Midwest action for more than just a couple days, as a change of pace from all of the Jersey/Virginia/Jersey crap from the last couple of weeks. Cross your fingers that I'll get lucky and stay out in the middle states for at least a few days!
