MeMe Necessity

I was tagged by The Daily Rant for a MeMe. I know I've never done one on my blog before so don't freak out. It may never happen again (we can only hope!). I will warn you. You are about to learn some really weird things about me that may or may not deter you from reading my blogs in the future. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a "normal" person. I enjoy things that most people find offensive, disgusting, and just odd. It's who I am... and I'm totally cool with that.

Here goes nothin'! Rules are as follows:

1. Link to Highway Hags and list the rules on your blog.

2. Share seven facts about yourselves on your blog — some random and some weird. (all of mine are likely to be weird)

There were two other rules, but I'm sorry I don't follow rules very well. The first two rules seemed to be the most important so those two I kept. The others included tagging 7 people and telling them they were tagged. I, personally, don't mind being tagged. But I generally don't tag back out of principle.

So here goes.... My weirdness en masse.

1) I love poop. Plain and simple. Poop rules. I make it, you make it, all forms of animal life make it. It's natural and it's healthy. And it's got variety! And you know what they say... Variety is the spice of life. And sometimes, when you eat something spicy... your poop can float as a testament to the truth that very adage.

Now I don't like poop on the level that I'd want to play with it or touch it or anything. That's just gross. But I think it's a great topic for conversation. And I have actually spent hours on end conversing with friends and acquaintances about poop of all kinds. I could probably spend a whole day blogging about the goodness (and badness ) of poop. But this is a truck driving blog and aside from this one MeMe, it shall remain poopless.

2) I talk to myself. A LOT. I bet there have been hundreds of other truck drivers who have passed me while I'm in the midst of a great conversation with nobody. It helps me pass the time. And it's not something that started with my truck driving career either. I've talked to myself and had one sided conversations for years. It's a way for me to vent, relieve stress and talk out something that I need to work through.

I often pretend to be talking to someone else. I will (admit this very red faced and slightly embarrassed) actually say things like "yeah, uh-huh, exactly" etc. like I am responding to a question or statement from someone who I am pretending to converse with.

I bet a psychologist would have a field day with that weird fact.

3) I'm a nose picker. Again, truckers have also probably caught me in the act of digging for gold. I told you I am gross! I dispose of my finds properly in a tissue, but of course I must examine them first. I just love my "magic nose goblins" (a reference to Ren & Stimpy of course).

4) I have a very strong urge to stop along the highways and by-ways of this great nation every time I see a dead animal. And why would I want to do that? So I can poke them with a stick. I've not done it before. I would probably get grossed out and maybe even throw up a little in my mouth as I did it... but its on my list of to-do's.

5) I like to smell things. It doesn't matter what kinds of things either. Scent is one of my favorite senses ( and one of the only reasons I refuse to have sinus surgery, as it causes a loss of as much as 80% of that sense ). I will smell just about anything once. And I like the smell of some pretty unusual stuff, which I'm sorry but I will NOT elaborate on those things because they will further dig my disgusting grave. But like a lot of folks, I enjoy the smell of gasoline (nothing at all like diesel which is also a good smell). I also like the smell of babies and flowers and pumpkin pie and home made meatloaf.... just to name a few.

6) I'm obsessive about cleaning my ears with Q-tips. And not because I think they're dirty. I just LOVE the way it feels to clean my ears with Q-tips. It's special. Just like me.

7) And finally... factoid seven. Just something I haven't shared with anyone for a while and am still damn proud of myself for... I've been tobacco free now for two years, 10 months and 9 days. I quit cold turkey. And I am so glad I quit when I did. I was nearly a two pack a day smoker by the time I quit. I had chronic health problems including bronchitis and my doctor told me I was on my way to COPD. I will never be in the clear as far as cancer is concerned but I am definitely a lot healthier now than I've ever been. Tobacco free is the way to be! yay!

OMG, OMG, OMG! You're normal, Gi-Gi! What are we going to do now? Yah, you're bravely honest which some people would find stange, but you are normal as far as I can see. A good entry to be sure!

Where are you these days? I haven't heard from you in awhile?

This list is GREAT!!! Just GREAT!!!

And not all that weird when I think about it.

I talk a lot about poop too and my cousin actually has a blog (I really don't know why) about poop - check it out: http://randomshitpickles.blogspot.com/

I don't talk to myself, but I do pick my nose, also have a VERY heightened sense of smelll, love to clean my ears for the very same reason.

And although I've never smoked, I commend you on the very HIGHEST level on your quitting. Now if only I can apply that same steely determination to stay away from the Hostess products!

Thank you SO much for doine the meme - I don't usually tag people either, but I had to prove somehow that I have at LEAST seven readers! LOL

Thanks again and I'll be looking forward to your other email.

Now that's an interesting list if ever I've read one.

You don't really have to link to Highway Hags. The original rules that we got when we were tagged by someone just said to link to the person who tagged you. I think I may have messed the rules up in the translation, though. But since you're a trucker, too, I figure you aren't any more inclined to follow rules than I am. :)

Too... much... information haha though (like most solo drivers) I'm probably guilty of confession #2 (just thought I'd throw that in so ya wouldn't naturally assume I'm a total judgmental a-hole) haha...

Hey, but if not for good music and satellite radio (and an occasional good chat on the CB from time to time, you're bound to go nuts out there haha...

Catch ya on the flip.
