Whew.... I'm pooped!

Well it's been entirely too long since I posted. But that is because of two main things 1) I didn't have enough money to take a taxi to the library to post blogs every day while I was up in Green Bay. 2) I was way too busy to worry about blogging.

I did have a freakin' blast in Green Bay. I learned a lot and I feel like I'm a more well rounded "driver of a truck" now. Apparently I can't call myself a "Truck Driver" yet, that title only comes after having been on the road with a years' experience. So right now, I'm just a driver of a truck. And I'm okay with that, because it's flippin awesome driving a truck!

I was fortunate to have been blessed with great classroom, driving and SIMS instructors in GB. I soaked up every bit of knowledge I could from everyone I dealt with during my time at GB and I feel like I came out a better person and definitly more prepared than I was before I got there. I learned a lot in my local training course I took to get my CDL and minimal experience, but I have to say that had I not had that prior training before I got to GB, I might not have had so much fun or done so well myself. Training Academy is TOUGH! And we lost of a lot of students during those two weeks because of how tough it really is.

Thankfully, I was able to study a little less hard and struggle a little less than some of the other students. STA was hard enough, I can't imagine having had to struggle and stress the whole way though!

So anyway! I had a great time. I learned a lot and I was ready for the second phase of training.... out on the road the the Training Engineer (TE). And I'll blog about that soon enough! :o)

Digital Camera Help...

I recently bought a Kodak EasyShare M863 camera at Circuit City. I am not thrilled with the quality of pictures and some of the camera's functions. Mind you, I've only taken about 50 pictures so far, but when I uploaded them to my laptop and viewed them on the screen, they just looked horrible. My old camera was a Sony Cybershot DSC-S600. It took GREAT pictures but it had a lot of mechanical issues. I'd sent it back to the factory three times and it could really be worked on agian, but alas, my warranty is kaputz. So I've snapped off my usual fare of en route, on the road pictures and all of them suck. I've tried about 5 of the major "settings" and it doesn't seem to matter what I do, but they all turn out grainy and "foggy" and just crummy. For the money I paid for this camera it should take better quality pictures. Of course, today I reviewed the new camera online via various sites and it seems that the "crummy picture syndrome"

Open Forum

I have been thinking about opening myself up for questions and inquiry on both a personal and professional level recently. Today I decided I'd go for it. I am opening the floor to you, my readers, to ask me anything. Now, please understand that I have the right to refuse to answer any question I do no feel will be productive or at least entertaining. Blowin' Stuff Up

Man, I've been seriously fortunate lately. Since I last posted, I had the pleasure of finally putting that darned HAZMAT endorsement to use by taking a load of potassium nitrate into Canada. Of course, my initial reaction was to wonder why my dispatcher hated me enough to do this to me. But then I realized it was just a fine opportunity to expand my horizons. I was afraid that the load was going to be a huge hassle when crossing the border. Turns out, they didn't give two craps about what I was hauling. I approached customs anticipating much ado and received...well... nothing. I was in Canada in less than 5 minutes upon reaching the border crossing. Woo hoo! So far so good. So I arrive at my destination and find myself thinking that finally the tables have turned and luck is running for the hills.
