Results

Well I finally got the MRI results read to me yesterday evening. Of course I had to go back down to the urgent care center and strong arm them in to getting the results faxed over from the hospital so that one of the doctors on rotation could kindly read them to me. Turns out there are not any obvious tears but there were notes on "sub cortical cysts" in part of the humeral head. My research online has turned up no clear cause or indication as to what that means. Apparently they can occur as a result of certain types of damages and injuries, or as an indicator of various types of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Of course, mainly it seem to be a benign issue that is simply bothersome. The good doctor that read me my results last night told me he would set me up with an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulders and let him/her explain what is going on inside my shoulder and help me figure out the best way to get through this little pain in the, er... shoulder.

Waiting Game

I had the MRI and am now awaiting official results. I was told to call the doc who ordered the MRI if I haven't heard from them by tomorrow afternoon. I do, however, have a disk with the images of my MRI scan for my own viewing pleasure. I wish I were able to read such things, so I could just look at it and say "oh it's this and this and that". But alas, I cannot. Maybe it'll be good news. I'm crossing my fingers. The pain is getting better with the icing and regular dosing of Motrin. I figure a few more days of good resting and I'll be able to tolerate work come Sunday. As long as I don't have to blow out my shoulder again right away, things can only get better. I assume at this point I'll be going to some sort of physical therapy to get my shoulder back into shape. That'll be annoying but I know it's necessary. I dunno. I'm only speculating of course. I do believe I will make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon just t

A Little Worried

I have my MRI in a little over 4 hours. I'm not worried about IT as this is MRI #3 in my life. I know the drill. What I'm more worried about is the reading of the results afterwards. I hope that whatever is going on under my pale hillbilly flesh isn't worthy of surgery. I've lived 31+ years without a single operation and I don't intend to start now if I can help it. But the prolonged nature of my shoulder issues, which is my own dumb fault for waiting so long to have it checked out, makes me worry about possible knives and sutures and painful healing. But then again, they may take these pictures today and find that I'm just dandy and simply need to do a little rehab to get my muscles into better shape to prevent loud pops and excruciating pain from happening again. We shall see. In the meantime, I've been icing my shoulder throughout the course of the day since Monday. I've been taking the Motrin 800's at regular 8 hour intervals to help with

Rotators and X-Rays and Tears, Oh my!

I'm still sitting here thinking of polite ways to tell a doctor that he/she can shove cortisone injections up their... well, you know. Yesterday morning I was at the shop filling my truck with freezing liquid CO2 before I was to head out to Kentucky for a route. Things were going unusually well. I typically have a little trouble with the liquid line that I have to attach to the truck for filling leaking a little, because I'm a small little girl lacking adequate upper body strength. Its never much of a leak, but I just can't really ever seem to get the hose screwed on tight enough to keep it from a little leakage. Yesterday morning however, I screwed the hose on, gave it two tugs to ensure connection just as I always do and then proceeded with pump start-up procedures to begin filling the truck with the CO2. Once the pump was initialized I laughed to myself when I saw that there wasn't anything leaking at the fill bib. Satisfied that nothing was going to blow up while f

Changes

Last night upon my return to the shop at the end of my shift I found my boss and the outta town boss chillin ' out smoking cigarettes outside the front bay. Some small talk ensued, then I showed them the items that I'd had the guys at Ryder fix on the truck. They were not nearly as excited about it as I was, but then they hadn't had to deal with the annoyance of the broken items on a daily basis like I did. After feeling the disappointment at their apparent disinterest in me or my days' escapades, I went inside to do end of the day paperwork and such. I was nearly done when they both came into the small office where I was finishing up and began to banter more about various topics. One of which directly involved me and my future with the company. I was informed that big changes are coming in individual drivers' routes. I was being assigned "C" routes which are primarily local routes (and coincidentally very physical routes with a large percent of tank pulls

TGI-Thursday

I remember talking to family and friends on the phone or on my short time at home visits while I was over-the-road about how I had lost that ability to have a "TGIF" moment. I worked 7 days a week usually for 2-3 weeks straight before I got genuine time off. There were no weekends and certainly no long weekends. I think I found that I was bitter about it sometimes, but I also remember being thrilled that I didn't have to be in that kind of grind. For the most part I made my own hours and did things my way without a boss breathing down my neck. I never had to pretend to look busy. The only days I counted down to were my time off days. Which were almost never on Fridays. So my TGIF's were usually TGIT, TGIS, or TGIM's. In my new driving job, I'm home every night working a mere four days a week. But ooooh how quickly I have fallen back into that grind... that countdown until my days off, my weekly long weekend. It's amusing really.

HOLY COW!!!!

And yes I'm sorry but I'm referring to Christina Aguliera on the Grammy's. Apparently it's been A WHILE since I last saw her on anything. I missed her flub-ulous performance singing the National Anthem on the Super Bowl. Had I not, maybe I wouldn't be so shocked by the sheer magnitude of Christina's once malnourished body. Wait... Hold the phone... is she preggers maybe? *quick google search* Oh and yes, from time to time my once "truckin' only" blog will be an outlet for me and my not-so-secret passion for celebrity gossip and trash talk.... *still googling* And I can't find anything "confirming or denying" that Christina is preggers. So I'm just gonna assume for now that she's just getting fat. Anyway... I didn't aim for this blog to be about Xtina. I wanted to blog about two things that moved me to tears. One, I just watched "The Last Song". The movie was based off a book by one of my favorite authors,

Wiiiiiiii

I'm sitting here watching my sweetie fly a plane into a volcano. And he just crashed. Watching the plane do loop-de-loops makes me kind of nauseous. Where are we and what are we doing, you ask? I'm blogging of course, but he's playing our new Wii. Yep, I cracked and went to Best Buy yesterday and purchased a brand new shiny black Wii. It came with two games which actually have many games to play on them. Wii Resort and Wii Sports. He's loving the "Island Flyover" on the Resort game and I had a blast playing "Table Tennis" on it as well. We played through most all of the games at least once last night. He while swilling a few brews and moi celebrating with a bottle of Barefoot Champagne. Yeah, we're classy. hahaha It was hilarious at one point last night when I kept calling one of the Resort games "water boarding" to which my sweetie would correct me by saying it was actually called "wake boarding". "You're not

Yep... still...

Well, we're still waiting for the other truck to get released from its Kentucky prison. Myself and my coworkers are getting tired of the situation. Lucky for me, it's my last working day of the week, so only a few more hours of dealing with the nonsense. In theory, by the time I return to work on Sunday we'll be back to normal. *fingers crossed tightly* In the meantime I'm looking forward to a few things. One, a meeting with our accountant in the morning to get some help figuring out how to correctly and successfully operate our accounting software for our new business. The other, three hours beau-free tomorrow night while my sweetie is at class. It's a new thing in our life that will last around 13 weeks. He signed up for a part time class at a local career center. It meets twice a week for three hours each session. I'm happy that he's taking a class that will give him job specific education for a career he's looking to pursue. And I'm happ

Still?!?

One of our trucks has been in a shop in Kentucky getting what is called an internal inspection. The shop has to hack into our tank and ensure welds and in and outlets are safe and secure and not leaking. They have to fix anything they find to make us safe and legal and well...... It's taking FOREVERRRRRR! I'm getting tired of working evening shifts, which I have to do three of my four working days because two drivers have to share one truck. And since I'm not about getting up at midnight to run the early shift, I'm stuck waiting for the early driver to get done, which sometimes isn't until around noon. Now this shop has had our truck going on three weeks. Last time, when they had the truck we're running solo right now, it was just under two weeks before we had it back. I'm thinking this is ridiculous. It'd better be done soon. Or I'm gonna snap. I'm exhausted and out of whack. BTW way to go Packers. ;o)

The 301 Blues

Oh my yesterday didn't go anywhere near as planned. No yoga, no gym at all actually. Errands of higher importance took a good part of the day to get done. I did make it to a local gaming store to trade in my DS and get a refurbished Wii. Oh man I was stoked! We made it home, set it up, downloaded the Netflix app for it and then watched a movie. BTW if you haven't seen "Up" do put it on your to-do list. Sure it's been out for quite a while but I'd not seen it until yesterday and I have to say I wished I'd seen it sooner. It's a little on the dark side but it's really funny and very well done. Now I see why it was nominated for so many awards. I digress... But then came today, the day the blues came for a visit. I woke up, hit the gym, sweated it out for a good hour. Came home, showered and headed back out. More errands to run and then a trip back to the gaming store. I had to take the Wii back. Not because I wanted to but because it wasn&#

*~~* 300 *~~*

Yay, my 300th post. O M G and I am still laughing about what just happened on the phone with a credit card company. My fiance and I recently went legit by starting our own business to blanket our rental properties with. A way for us to protect our assets basically. Now, we do have lots of things that still need to be done on our properties, renovations to be made, expenses that need covered. And since we're not winning the lottery any time soon, we figured we'd seek out a small business credit card. I applied for one through a major national bank on Monday using their online application process. This morning they called to "confirm information" and glean a little more info before making a final decision. After giving the representative everything BUT my weight and height, he put me on hold for a brief time. When the rep came back he reviewed some basic info and then paused, dramatically . He then went on to say this: "So, I'm looking at your credit and

Rock-n-Roll

I tell ya, this week has been exciting. First the Ford pulling the semi out of the ditch, then the following day, a rock slide. I had a route to run down in Paintsville, KY and headed down US-23 to get there. There was an off and on sprinkly rain pretty much all day that made for a soggy day. On my way home I came back up US-23 to get to I-64 and for some odd reason decided that instead of listening to the radio I'd turn on the CB. Turns out it was a good thing because around 8 miles or so south of Lousia, KY the quiet CB went bezerk. "Oh sh*t, Oh SH*T! Rocks in the road, south bound back 'er down, back 'er down!" "Copy, whats the 20 on the rocks?" "Oh sh*t, we're stopping, truck hit the rocks I'm gonna get out and see if driver is okay." Just about this time I come upon the scene. It was dark and rainy but I could clearly see the jackknifed coal truck whose drivers side of the cab was up against no rock. No you can throw rocks. T
